Could Førstereis be right for you?
There are several ways to become a course participant in Førstereis! Whether you are connected to Christan Radich, NAV or another actor, you are most welcome to contact us to check if the offer might be right for you.
How you can become a course participant with us:
Windjammers who have participated in cruises with Chr. Radich
The students who come to us from Christan Radich's Windjammer program have often enjoyed sailing, and are now seeking a deeper understanding of whether this is the right path for them.
Førstereis is run in close collaboration with the Christian Radich Foundation and their Windjammer and Light Sailor Program. Students can come to us both before and after the Christian Radich cruise, and we have ongoing dialogue with coordinators to ensure good adaptation and progression for each individual.
The students start with a four-week learning stay at Christan Radich. After that, they can, if they wish, jump straight over to us for a few months, and participate in a routine-managed living and working community on board with clear frameworks, areas of responsibility and a focus on life skills and collaboration.
Entrance to maritime education
For those who wish to pursue a maritime career, we provide in-depth information about the various paths forward. These include, for example, the Radich light sailor course, sailing on Danish training ships to obtain equivalent education, or contacting the Maritime Competence Center for further education.
Windjammers going on a cruise with Chr. Radich
Some of our students come to us after being awarded a place on Christian Radich's light sailing course, and in close collaboration with Radich, some of these students are sent to us first.
These students typically have limited or no prior experience in this type of work. They may have been aboard Radich as participants on windjammer trips, but may not have been employed before.
The transition to the Easy Seaman course can be significant, and to give each student the best possible conditions to master the course, we give them basic training on board with us first. This includes everything from learning practical work as an easy seaman, to taking responsibility for their part of the living community on board (cooking, washing up, following house rules, etc.).
Participants via NAV and other actors
We are increasingly being contacted by, among others, NAV, Fretex and other actors who want to find a place for their candidates.
We collaborate with a number of NAV offices nationally on job training and clarification, and seek long-term partnerships with municipalities, Bufdir and private foundations to ensure stable operations over time.
